This month an autonomous drone made a 13-minute flight over the British countryside to drop off an Amazon television-streaming stick and a bag of popcorn to a customer near Cambridge. At one level, the delivery was little more than a quirky publicity stunt to demonstrate the potential of technology. But it also confirmed Amazon’s deadly serious intent to develop a delivery infrastructure that could yet revolutionise the logistics industry. “I know this looks like science fiction. It’s not,” Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s founder, told a television interviewer in 2013, revealing the company’s drones programme. “It will work, and it will happen, and it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”“我知道这看上去像是科幻小说。 The holy grail of the logistics industry has always been to solve the “last mile” challenge, the trickiest and most expensive link in the delivery chain. Amazon Prime Air could be part of the solution. Drone operators claim their deliveries can be quicker, safer and greener than most other options. If the necessary infrastructure were in place, drones could be used for the bulk of Amazon’s deliveries. According to Mr Bezos, Amazon’s drones can deliver packages weighing up to 5lb (a little over 2kg), covering 86 per cent of the items it delivers. 86%。The critical question is whether that infrastructure will ever be built. Will we allow the mass use of commercial drones over populated areas? Can we envisage a day when thousands of commercial drones buzz through our cities delivering parcels to specially designated drop-off points on rooftops and in car parks? In many countries, we are at the beginning of a fumbling triangular dance between operators, regulators and the public about the safety and acceptability of such deliveries. Operators argue that commercial drones have been successfully used for years in sparsely populated areas of the world. In the early 1980s the Japanese pioneered the use of drones to spray pesticides on rice fields. Energy companies regularly use drones to survey remote oil pipelines, damaged power lines and wind turbines. Their use is particularly effective in parts of the developing world where drones can leapfrog poor conventional infrastructure. Rural parts of Rwanda are aly benefiting from drone-delivered, time-sensitive medicines. A recent report by PwC highlighted the speed at which the industry is developing, identifying 200 drone manufacturers globally. “The drone sector is on the verge of becoming a mass industry, with enormous potential to disrupt various types of business,” it concluded. But allowing autonomous commercial drones to deliver customers’ parcels in cities would cross a perception threshold. It would certainly be the most visible — and possibly controversial — use of the technology so far. Regulators in some countries, such as the UK, Japan and Poland, are adopting an accommodating approach, encouraging drone operators to experiment provided they meet defined safety standards. However, other countries — most notably the US — are far more cautious about whether to allow operators to fly autonomous drones beyond the line of sight. Ed Leon Klinger, chief executive of Flock, an early stage start-up company serving the drone industry, says the UK is at the forefront of global thinking on commercial drone use. “The drone industry is developing at an incredible pace. We will see drones in cities within three years,” he predicts. His company, which provides real-time data analytics on weather and traffic conditions to operators, enables drones to fly more safely and smartly in cities and helps insurance companies price risk. Even though regulators and operators are learning to bump along together, the public appears to be trailing a long way behind. One of the commercial drone industry’s biggest fears is that irresponsible hobbyists will destroy public trust in the technology before responsible operators can prove themselves. Public concern is rising about how hobbyist drones have been used to snoop on neighbours, deliver drugs to prisoners and endanger aircraft. Huawei announced a major breakthrough in its research into Li-ion batteries, unveiling the world#39;s first long-lifespan graphene-assisted Li-ion battery able to withstand high temperatures. The announcement was made by Watt Laboratory, an organization under Huawei#39;s Central Research Institute, at the 57th Battery Symposium held in Japan. Huawei#39;s research results show that new graphene-based heat-resistant technologies allow Li-ion batteries to remain functional in a 60°C environment, a temperature 10°C higher than the existing upper limit. 10℃。The lifespan of the graphene-assisted Li-ion batteries will also be twice as long as ordinary Li-ion batteries. Dr. Yangxing Li, Chief Scientist at Watt Laboratory, pointed out that three technologies contributed to the breakthrough in the graphene-assisted high-temperature Li-ion battery. First, a special additive in the electrolytes can remove trace water and prevent the electrolytes from evaporating in high temperatures. Second, modified large-crystal NMC materials are used for the cathode, improving the thermal stability of the cathode powder. Third, graphene allows for more efficient cooling of the Li-ion battery. Dr. Li said, ;We have performed charging and discharging tests in a high-temperature environment. The tests show that when working parameters are the same, the graphene-assisted high-temperature Li-ion battery is 5°C cooler than ordinary Li-ion batteries.;李阳兴士表示:“高温环境下的充放电测试表明,在同等工作参数下,该石墨烯基高温锂离子电池的温升比普通锂离子电池降低了5℃。”;Over 70% of the graphene battery#39;s capacity is left after it is recharged 2,000 times at a temperature of 60°C. I'm just browsing. 在美国逛街买衣,"I'm just browsing." 和 "I'm just looking." 或是 "Are you looking for something?" 或是 "I'm just looking." I'm looking for a turtle neck sweater. Could you help me?" 或是 "Do you have any turtle neck sweater?" May I try this on? May I try this on?" Where is the fitting room?" May I try this on?" 3. I like this tank top. It goes with my baggy jeans. 4. Could you help me pick up a dressy dress? Her dressy dress really caught my eyes." Lulu is dressed up today. She looks so nice." 建议各位当你不管看到任何女生 dress up 出现时不妨赞美她 "I like your dress!" 或是 "You look so nice today!" 5. I don't like too much cleavage. I don't like too much cleavage." 或是 "My mom will kill me if she sees too much cleavage." She's got so much cleavage that she can hide a fully-equipped platoon in between there." 6. I just want to buy some off-the-rack clothes. Your jacket looks very nice. Where did you get it?" It's just something off-the-rack." I need to get a custom-made tuxedo for my wedding." 7. This shirt is very stylish and not very expensive. It's very good-looking." ; "It's very stylish." 或是 "It's very becoming to (on) you."
