THE PRESIDENT: Hello everybody, and happy holidays. THE FIRST LADY: We know how busy this time of year is for everyone, so we’re not going to take much of your time. But we did want to take a moment to wish you all a Merry Christmas, from our family to yours. THE PRESIDENT: This is a season for millions of Americans to be together with family, to continue long-held holiday traditions, and to show our gratitude to those we love. And along the way, some of us might even watch a little basketball or eat some Christmas cookies, too. THE FIRST LADY: Here at the White House, over the past few weeks, we’ve had about 70,000 people from all across the country come visit us and look at our holiday decorations. This year’s theme was “Gather Around: Stories of the Season.” And in every room of the house, we tried to tell a story about who we are as Americans and how we celebrate the holidays together. And we made certain to highlight some of the most powerful stories we know—the stories of our outstanding troops, veterans, and military families and their service and sacrifice for our country. THE PRESIDENT: Our extraordinary men and women in uniform are serving so that the rest of us can enjoy the blessings we cherish during the holidays. But that means many of our troops are far from home and far from family. They’re spending some extra time on the phone with their loved ones back home. Or they’re setting up chats so they can watch as the presents are opened. So today, we want all of our troops to know that you’re in our thoughts and prayers this holiday season. And here’s the good news: For many of our troops and newest veterans, this might be the first time in years that they’ve been with their families on Christmas. In fact, with the Iraq war over and the transition in Afghanistan, fewer of our men and women in uniform are deployed in harm’s way than at any time in the last decade. THE FIRST LADY: And that’s something we all can be thankful for. And with more and more of our troops back here at home, now it’s our turn to serve—it’s our turn to step up and show our gratitude for the military families who have given us so much. And that’s why Jill Biden and I started our Joining Forces initiative—to rally all Americans to support our military families in ways large and small. And again and again, we have been overwhelmed by the response we’ve gotten as folks from across the country have found new ways to give back to these families through their schools, businesses, and houses of worship. THE PRESIDENT: That’s the same spirit of giving that connects all of us during the holidays. So many people all across the country are helping out at soup kitchens, buying gifts for children in need, or organizing food or clothing drives for their neighbors. For families like ours, that service is a chance to celebrate the birth of Christ and live out what He taught us – to love our neighbors as we would ourselves; to feed the hungry and look after the sick; to be our brother’s keeper and our sister’s keeper. And for all of us as Americans, regardless of our faith, those are values that can drive us to be better parents and friends, better neighbors and better citizens. THE FIRST LADY: So as we look to the New Year, let’s pledge ourselves to living out those values by reaching out and lifting up those in our communities who could use a hand up. THE PRESIDENT: So Merry Christmas, everyone. And from the two of us, as well as Malia, Sasha, Grandma, Bo… THE FIRST LADY: And Sunny, the newest Obama. THE PRESIDENT: We wish you all a blessed and safe holiday season. THE FIRST LADY: Happy holidays everybody, and God bless.201501/352223襄阳阴茎突然不能硬了 And now we can see inside of the brain with a resolution and ability that was never before available, and essentially learn how to reconstruct, and maybe even re-engineer,or backwards engineer, the brain so we can better understand pathology, disease and therapy. We can look inside with real time fMRI-in the brain at real time. And by understanding these sorts of processes and these sorts of connections, were going to understand the effects of medication or meditation and better personalize and make effective, for example, psychoactive drugs. The scanners for these are getting small, less expensive and more portable. And this sort of data explosion available from these is really almost becoming a challenge. The scan of today takes up about 800 books, or 20 gigabytes. 20GB。The scan in a couple of years will be one terabyte, or 800,000 books. How do you leverage that information? Lets get personal. I wont ask who heres had a colonoscopy, but if youre over age 50, its time for your screening colonoscopy. How would you like to avoid the pointy end of the stick? Well now theres essentially a virtual colonoscopy. Compare those two pictures, and now as a radiologist, you can essentially fly through your patients colon and, augmenting that with artificial intelligence, identify potentially, as you see here, a lesion. Oh, we might have missed it, but using A.I. on top of radiology,we can find lesions that were missed before. And maybe this will encourage people to get colonoscopies that wouldnt have otherwise. And this is an example of this paradigm shift. Were moving to this integration of biomedicine, information technology, wireless and, I would say, mobile now-this era of digital medicine. So even my stethoscope is now digital. And of course, theres an app for that. Were moving, obviously, to the era of the tricorder. So the handheld ultrasound is basically surpassing and supplanting the stethoscope. These are now at a price point of-what used to be 100,000 euros or a couple of hundred-thousand dollars for about 5,000 dollars, I can have the power of a very powerful diagnostic device in my hand. And merging this now with the advent of electronic medical records in the ed States, were still less than 20 percent electronic. Here in the Netherlands, I think its more than 80 percent. But now that were switching to merging medical data, making it available electronically,we can crowd source that information, and now as a physician, I can access my patients data from wherever I am just through my mobile device. And now, of course, were in the era of the iPad, even the iPad 2. And just last month the first FDA-approved application was approved to allow radiologists to do actual ing on these sorts of devices. So certainly, the physicians of today, including myself, are completely reliable on these devices. And as you saw just about a month ago,Watson from IBM beat the two champions in Jeopardy. So I want you to imagine when in a couple of years, when weve started to apply this cloud-based information, when we really have the A.I. physician and leverage our brains to connectivity to make decisions and diagnostics at a level never done. Aly today, you dont need to go to your physician in many cases. Only for about 20 percent of actual visits do you have to lay hands on the patient. Were now in the era of virtual visits from sort of the Skype-type visits you can do with American Well,to Cisco thats developed a very complex health presence system. The ability to interact with your health care provider is different. And these are being augmented even by our devices again today. Here my friend Jessica sent me a picture of her head laceration so I can save her a trip to the emergency room-I can do some diagnostics that way. Or might we be able to leverage todays gaming technology, like the Microsoft Kinect, and hack that to enable diagnostics, for example,in diagnosing stroke, using simple motion detection, using hundred-dollar devices. We can actually now visit our patients robotically this is the RP7; if Im a hematologist, visit another clinic, visit a hospital. These will be augmented by a whole suite of tools actually in the home now. So imagine we aly have wireless scales. You can step on the scale. You can Tweet your weight to your friends, and they can keep you in line. We have wireless blood pressure cuffs. A whole gamut of these technologies are being put together. So instead of wearing these kludgy devices, we can put on a simple patch. This was developed by colleagues at Stanford, called the iRhythm with much more effectivity. Now were also in the era, today, of quantified self. Consumers now can buy basically hundred-dollar devices, like this little FitBit. FitBit。I can measure my steps, my caloric outtake. I can get insight into that on a daily basis. I can share that with my friends, with my physician. Theres watches coming out that will measure your heart rate, the Zeo sleep monitors,a whole suite of tools that can enable you to leverage and have insight into your own health. And as we start to integrate this information, were going to know better what to do with it and how better to have insight into our own pathologies, health and wellness. Theres even mirrors today that can pick up your pulse rate.

It will enable both Unix and NT to run on the same hardware platform. The architecture provides excellent investment protection for customers running applications on current Intel-based and PA-RISC systems. Customers can run their current applications unchanged on these new systems, achieving somewhere between 60-80 percent of the architectures peak performance by just recompiling their applications. Our transition strategy is very customer-friendly. Customers can choose when they migrate, and their applications can coexist on both the old and new architectures. We believe were years ahead of the competition in thinking about this transition. We are working closely with all the major independent software vendors — industry leaders such as Oracle and Informix, SAP and PeopleSoft — to make sure their products are optimized for the new architecture by the time it is launched. Finally, we are quite clear about our intention to make this architecture an industry standard. That means there must be a level playing field for our competitors in terms of access to this new architecture. So were delighted to see strong competitors like Compaq endorse it. We are confident that we can still differentiate HP products above and beyond the microprocessor level. We have lots of expertise in systems-level architectures, high-availability and reliability, advanced compiler technology, powerful middleware and networking capabilities. And we will complete the value proposition with our worldwide service and support capabilities, strong partnerships with solution providers and diverse distribution channels. So differentiating in the new era will be ;business as usual; for HP.

In total there will be more than 30,000 participants in HP MegaForum in 1998, taking part in seminars on a wide range of topics, product demonstrations and trade shows. To my knowledge, an IT event of this scale and comprehensiveness represents a first both for China, and for HP. China HP also hosts another important IT event each year aimed for end-users called HP Electronic World. This year, it will be held in July in Beijing and will also focus on E-Commerce. We expect to welcome more than 40 vendors, and 10,000 visitors, with over 100 seminars on the full range of issues facing the IT industry in making E-Commerce a reality in China and around the world. This year at HP Electronic World, we plan one more first for China, and that is to link via conference audiences in Beijing, Taipei and Hong Kong in a common forum to discuss cooperation in Building Together our Electronic World. I suspect that David Packard would have been particularly honored to speak to this Chinese audience. We are certainly honored to have the chance to be part of it. The Electronic World represents a whole new way of doing business. I urge you to embrace it and use it to make your organization more successful than it has ever been. 201411/341045 And in a very competitive world that really is a calling card because I can tell you as one who employs a lot of people when I see ;Harvard; I sit up a little straighter and say ;Where is he or she? Its an impressive calling card that can lead to even more impressive bullets in the years ahead: lawyer, senator, C.E.O. , scientist, physicist, winners of Nobel and Pulitzer Prizes or late night talk show host. But the challenge of life I have found is to build a resume that doesnt simply tell a story about what you want to be but its a story about who you want to be. Its a resume that doesnt just tell a story about what you want to accomplish but why. A story thats not just a collection of titles and positions but a story thats really about your purpose. Because when you inevitably stumble and find yourself stuck in a hole that is the story that will get you out. What is your true calling? What is your dharma? What is your purpose? For me that discovery came in 1994 when I interviewed a little girl who had decided to collect pocket change in order to help other people in need. She raised a thousand dollars all by herself and I thought well if that little 9 year old girl with a bucket and big heart could do that I wonder what I could do?我想:“嗯,如果一个9岁的小姑娘,用一个筐和热忱的心就能做到,我能做到什么?”So I asked for our viewers to take up their own change collection and in one month just from pennies and nickels and dimes we raised more than three million dollars that we used to send one student from every state in the ed States to college. That was the beginning of the Angel Network. And so what I did was I simply asked our viewers ; Do what you can wherever you are, from wherever you sit in life. Give me your time or your talent your money if you have it.;其实我做的只是简单的请求我们的观众:“ 无论你在哪里处于人生的哪个阶段。 And they did. Extend yourself in kindness to other human beings wherever you can. And together we built 55 schools in 12 different countries and restored nearly 300 homes that were devastated by hurricanes Rita and Katrina. So the Angel Network I have been on the air for a long time, but it was the Angel Network that actually focused my internal G.P.S. It helped me to decide that I wasnt going to just be on TV every day but that the goal of my shows, my interviews, my business, my philanthropy all of it, whatever ventures I might pursue would be to make clear that what unites us is ultimately far more redeeming and compelling than anything that separates me.
